My name is Emily and I am a young teacher in the lovely state of Wisconsin. I am a typical Midwesterner who enjoys family time, being outside, and the beautiful 4-season weather. Growing up in Wisconsin, I always wanted to live somewhere else in the country that seemed exotic to me. As I've gotten older, I've realized that it's not where you live that's important, but who you live by. My family is my number one priority in life and where ever they are, that is where I choose to call my home.
I went to a typical four-year university where I earned a degree in Elementary-Middle Education and Adaptive Education. I have taught in many districts in Wisconsin and have settled in a small, rural community at the middle school which has roughly 550 students. I teach sassy seventh graders and am blessed to be employed in a district that is able to offer wonderful opportunities. We've got a lot of community support and a great group of kids. I'm a lucky girl!
One of the ways in which I've chosen to inspire and be inspired is through this blog. Teaching isn't about trying to be better than your coworkers and climbing the business ladder. Teaching is about spreading knowledge with one another and learning to be the best you can be. It's about being a community of life long learners and helping each other out along the way.
Lastly, the most important thing for you to know about me, is that I LOVE my job. Actually, it really isn't a job, it's my passion and my career for life. You might roll your eyes and think I'm just a doe-eyed young teacher who hasn't been teaching long enough to let the honeymoon phase pass, but that's okay. I didn't become a teacher because it was easy or surely not because it pays well. I became a teacher because of the kids, and because if I'm able to make a difference in just ONE student's life, all of the stress and worrying will be worth it. I hope that my passion and love for teaching can be visible through my words, but most importantly, in the heart of my classroom.
